Terms of Use
Terms of Use for DontTouchMyMac
Last updated: April 9, 2026
TL;DR
The app is licensed software, not a guarantee against every real-world outcome.
By downloading, installing, or using DontTouchMyMac, you agree to these Terms. The app is licensed for personal use, is currently designed around one active Mac at a time, and is intended to function as a local alarm utility on supported Apple Silicon MacBooks. We may provide updates over time, but we do not guarantee that the software will prevent theft, work on every configuration, or be free from interruption in every situation.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By downloading, installing, activating, or using DontTouchMyMac, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the software.
2. Eligibility and permitted use
You must be of legal age in your jurisdiction, or otherwise legally permitted to enter into a binding agreement, in order to purchase or use DontTouchMyMac.
You are responsible for using the software lawfully and appropriately in your own environment, including any workplace, school, or public setting where audible alarms may have consequences.
3. License and activation
DontTouchMyMac is licensed, not sold. Your purchase grants a limited right to use the software under these terms.
- A purchase grants a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the software, not ownership of the software itself.
- The launch model is intended for one active Mac at a time, with license transfer handled by deactivating the previous device first.
- You may not redistribute, resell, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works from the software except where applicable law expressly allows it.
4. Product scope and supported configuration
The software should be evaluated against its actual documented scope, not against assumptions about broader device security products.
- The current supported path is a locked Apple Silicon MacBook on macOS 14 or later, using local movement detection and local alarm playback.
- The software is intended as a local security utility and deterrent, not as a guaranteed anti-theft system or remote monitoring service.
- Use on unsupported hardware, unsupported operating system versions, or outside the described product scope may not work as expected.
5. Purchases, billing, and refunds
Purchases may be processed by third-party checkout and licensing providers. Their own billing terms, tax handling, and customer records may apply in addition to these Terms.
- Purchases, checkout, taxes, and license fulfillment may be handled by our payment and licensing provider.
- Refund requests should be sent to support before initiating chargebacks, so we have a chance to review the issue and help resolve it.
- If the app fails to function on a supported device, we may ask for diagnostic details or a short demonstration of the issue before approving a refund.
6. Updates and changes to the software
We may release updates, bug fixes, compatibility changes, new features, or revised builds over time. We may also modify or discontinue parts of the product where reasonably necessary.
Continued use of DontTouchMyMac after an update or after a published revision to these Terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.
7. Warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DontTouchMyMac is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, reputation, business opportunity, or hardware value arising from use of the software.
Where liability cannot be excluded entirely, our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the software.
8. Assumption of risk and practical responsibility
DontTouchMyMac is intended to create a loud local alarm when movement appears to indicate that a locked MacBook is being taken. The surrounding real-world decisions and consequences remain your responsibility.
- DontTouchMyMac may trigger loud alarms and other attention-grabbing behavior by design.
- You are responsible for deciding when, where, and in what setting to use the software.
- We are not responsible for theft, loss, social consequences, workplace consequences, or any damage that results from misuse, unsupported configurations, or circumstances outside the software itself.
9. Intellectual property
All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.
- The DontTouchMyMac name, logo, brand colors, visual design, website content, and related assets remain the exclusive intellectual property of their owner.
- No rights are granted to copy, reproduce, imitate, or republish our brand identity or website materials except with prior written permission.
- Third-party software or open-source components remain subject to their own licenses and notices.
10. Privacy
Your use of DontTouchMyMac is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains what the app does and does not collect, what stays on your device, and what limited network activity may occur.
